- Soak 1 cup daal mash in warm water for 1 hour. Then boil it with 4 5 cloves 1 black cardamom and a cinnamon stick for 10 minutes or until half done.
- Then in a separate pot add 1/2 cup oil and fry 1 large sliced onion. On low medium heat until golden brown! Then add 1 tbs of ginger garlic each and half cup water.
- Then add 1-1/2 tsp red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp, 1 tsp coriander powder and 1/2 tsp salt. Fry it by adding little water. Make sure you dont burn the spices. Cook it for at least 20 30 minutes by adding water again and again. When oil separates add boiled daal in it with enough water to cook the daal and masala together.
- Put on the lid and let it simmer on low medium heat until daal is cooked completely and there is no water in the pot. When it's done, fry it for another 2 3 minutes with sliced green chillies. (At this stage you can check the salt and add more if needed)
- It's done! Serve it with freshly sliced ginger and sprinkle garam masala on top! Served or have with roti and naan kachomar salad
