The ingredients needed to make Madeleine:
  1. Get 1 Egg
  2. Prepare 50 grams Sugar
  3. Take 50 grams Cake flour
  4. Take 1/2 tsp Baking powder
  5. Take 50 grams Butter

Madeleines are very small sponge cakes with a distinctive shell-like shape acquired from being baked in pans with shell-shaped depressions. Melt butter and let cool to room temperature. In a small mixing bowl, beat eggs, vanilla and salt at high speed until light. Our authentic French fare is the perfect reason to relax with a book or celebrate with family.

Instructions to make Madeleine:
  1. Mix the egg and sugar in a bowl, and sift in the cake flour and baking powder, then mix some more.
  2. Melt the butter, and add to Step [1], then mix. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit for at least 30 minutes in the fridge.
  3. Thinly grease the pan with butter and dust with flour (amount excluded from ingredient list). Fill the pan with the batter about 70% and bake in the oven for about 15 minutes at 190℃.
  4. The small bump on the tops are an indication of delicious madeleines!
  5. Adding honey makes the madeleine more moist, and gives them mild taste. Add 1-3 teaspoons during Step [2].
